3/31/2024 0 Comments Boa vs python snakeIn my avatar you can see my Dumeril's boa, and for my size she may seem sort of large but she isn't too big. They don't get terribly large and I would definitely recommend them for a first "larger" species of snake if someone wanted to get into the larger snakes. Males will get around 6 feet, 7 at the most, but you will find most males around 5-6 feet long. Keep in mind that Dumeril's boas do take a long time to get their full length so you probably won't have a full grown Dumeril's until maybe 5 years of age, especially for a female. Adult pythons average between 1.5 - 10 meters long (5 - 33 feet) and weigh between 22. I prefer Dumeril's over any boa, just because of their larger size and docile nature.Ī Dumeril's boa female can get about 8 feet at most, mines only about 6 feet or so and full grown. Both the python and the boa are considered large snakes however, the python is typically larger than the boa. I have much more experience with Dumeril's so I will mostly talk about that.ĭumeril's are very nice looking and have an amazing pattern. But if you do truly like a larger snake that is pretty docile then a Dumeril's boa makes the perfect snake IMO. If you want to start out with something smaller, the Hogg will be best.
